Summer Skincare: How to Keep Your Skin Looking Great!

If you live in a place with hot summers, it’s important to make sure your skin stays healthy and protected all summer long. After all, your skin is the barrier between your body and the rest of the world, and summer can be tough on your skin. Here’s everything you need to know about summer skincare!

1. Never Skip the Sun Protection

You’ve heard it a thousand times before, but we’ll say it again: Avoid getting burned! Wear sunscreen and hats, and stay in the shade when possible. This will greatly reduce your risk of sunburn, skin cancer, wrinkles, age spots and other problems. Sun protection is particularly important for the sensitive skin on your face. You want to look good and remain healthy for years to come, so cover up when you’re in the hot summer sun!

2. Shower Daily to Remove Sunscreen, Bug Spray, and Sweat

Sunscreen is essential, but it can also leave your skin oily and potentially clog your pores. Make sure to wash it off each night, along with any bug spray you might have used during the day. This will allow your skin to breathe and restore itself at night. For a relaxing bath after a sweaty day, try a soothing bath bomb.

3. Use Body Butter or Lotion After Swimming/Sun Exposure

After you’ve been in the pool, at the beach, or just outside in the sun, you’ll want to moisturize. Chlorine and salt can be bad news for your skin with prolonged exposure. You can find body washes and several other products with exfoliating properties, or you can simply use a washcloth, loofah, or exfoliating sponge in the shower. To keep your feet exfoliated and smooth, you can use an emery board or pumice stone. Or you could just enjoy barefoot walks on the beach! Beach sand is great for exfoliating your feet, and it’s a perfect excuse to spend more time near the ocean!

5. Stay Hydrated and Eat a Healthy Diet
